Massachusetts DCR’s Massasoit State Park, East Taunton, MA
Comments
The competition is open to canoes, kayaks and other human-powered craft. Portaging devices that remain with the boat throughout the competition are allowed.
Loaner boats: Meet helpers who make arrangements in advance may borrow canoes from the meet director.
Courses:
Short - no portages
Medium - portages optional, but are possible route choices
Elite - portages necessary
Score-O - same course as Elite except you may punch in any order and skip any controls

10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

The New England Grand Champion will be the overall fastest boat on the Elite Course.
Directions:
From Boston: Take Rte. 24 south to Rte. 44 east. At first traffic light, turn right onto South St. Follow to end. Turn left onto Middleboro Ave. Continue about 1.5 miles to the competition center on the right.
From Cape Cod or Worcester: Take Rte. 495 to Exit 5 in Middleborough. Take Rte. 18 South to the first intersection where there is a yellow flashing light. Turn right onto Taunton Street which becomes Middleboro Ave. Park entrance will be on the left, about 2.5 miles from flashing light. Continue .5 miles to the competition center.
From Fall River/Providence: Take Rte. 195 East to Rte. 24 North to Rte. 44 East. At first traffic light, turn right onto South St. Follow to end. Turn left onto Middleboro Ave. Continue about 1.5 miles to the competition center on the right.
Notes:
Parking: The few parking spaces at the competition center are reserved for the park’s regular users. Please arrive prepared to unload quickly and move your car to the main parking lot 1 kilometer away. A shuttle van will be available to bring drivers back.
Restrooms: There are porta-potties at the park’s main parking lot, 1 kilometer away.
