Despite the forecast for cold drizzle, 31 families or groups (representing 93 people) signed up for some park orienteering at newly mapped Auburndale Cove and Flowed Meadow Conservation Area. There were 47 starts, with several people going out multiple times. It was really nice to talk to real people again, and the event brought in a nice mix of families, Girl Scout troops, JROTC, and a few really fast runners. And the rain nicely held off until close to the end, so only the stragglers and control picker uppers got really wet.

The map was produced as part of the OUSA Youth Mapping Program, with remote mapping by Andrea-Ingrid Schneider and on-site verification by Channon Ames, Recreation Manager for Newton Parks & Recreation. This event would not have been possible without Channon's perseverance with the Conservation Commission, fabulous laminating skills, and help with control set up and pickup. A big thank you to the Martin family (Neil, Jenn, Dashiell & Daphne), the Mühlschlegel family, and Mark O'Connell for help with hanging/picking up controls and general help throughout the event.

Although the control flags have been removed, the laminated QR codes will remain up all week until just before sundown on Sunday April 4th, so feel free to go out and run some more in this pretty park along the Charles River.
