Meets at Houghton’s Pond/Blue Hills always seem to draw well and this time around was no exception.  Over 150 people turned out to orienteer on a near perfect early Fall day.  We used a new start location, although given the number of past events held in the area, a few of the runners undoubtedly visited previously used control locations – hopefully from another direction.

Yellow and orange were the most popular courses, with about 40 people running each.  The white, brown, green, and red courses were also well represented, each with about 20 runners.  The low number of DNFs across the board suggests that most people choose courses at or only slightly above their skill level.

This was Richard Powers' first time as an event director, but he found that organizing the event was made much easier thanks to the NEOC Event Director's manual and all the help offered by club members.  The event benefitted greatly from the time and skill volunteered by many individuals including Peter Amram, Tim Booth, Jim Crawford, Raina Crawford, Paula Crock, John Kernochan, Mary Penniston, Andy McIlvaine, Tim Parson, Joanne Sankus, and Ian Smith.
